Fruit, A Feminine Noun - Entrepreneurship and Female Empowerment
Fruits, a Feminine Noun" is a project that continues the "All the Flavors" collection. It shares the same celebratory proposal of struggles and resistance.
Created for Destilaria YVY in collaboration with Estúdio Bogotá, this work highlights the power of female empowerment and native fruits. The artwork draws inspiration from the colors of the Suffragette Movement and its fight for equality. Violet represents freedom, white symbolizes purity and transparency in both private and public life, and green embodies hope.
The fruits, on the other hand, were meticulously chosen and speak volumes about the strength and autonomy of women.
The thorns of the mandacaru cactus take the lead to show that this fruit can draw not only from the fragility of its flower but also from its ability to resist and thrive in harsh environments. The refusal of cocoa to be sweet reflects the depth of qualities and life that the fruit exudes without needing to be transformed into a sweet treat for others to consume. And the cerrado vanilla, with all its peculiarities and its unique way of existing, adapts, changes, and transforms itself without adhering to any set patterns.
The posters were printed using the risography technique and exhibited at the Elas Festival, an event held in Belo Horizonte that encompasses music, cinema, photography exhibitions, and discussions celebrating and addressing women and female empowerment. Arranged side by side, from top to bottom, they radiate the power of affirmation and change that women carry within themselves, and that is magnified when they come together.
Additionally, printed shirts featuring the artwork were produced so that the concept and the full potential of the project do not remain confined to the realms of creation and exhibition. Instead, they can be taken beyond and onto the streets and into the everyday lives of people.
